About
Finding out you’re autistic later in life can change more than how you understand your past. It can also change how you think about the life you want to live going forward. You might begin noticing that some of the expectations you’ve spent years meeting no longer feel as important—or as sustainable—as they once did. You may still be capable of doing many of the same things while becoming more aware of the social load, cognitive load, autistic masking, recovery time, and nervous system effort involved. That can bring up new questions. What actually matters to me? Which parts of my life reflect my values, and which came from expectations I rarely stopped to question? What does success mean when I include my nervous system in the definition? 'Living From Your Values — Not Old Expectations' explores what can happen when life after late autism diagnosis begins shifting from understanding your past toward considering how you want to live now. Across eight videos, we explore why life may feel different after late diagnosis, the weight of old expectations, understanding your autistic nervous system, redefining success, designing a life that fits how you actually function, and moving forward without pressure to have your identity figured out. This isn’t about reinventing yourself or making immediate changes. It’s an opportunity to notice what fits, what costs more than you realized, what genuinely matters to you, and what may feel more sustainable. You don’t need to become someone new. You might simply be learning how to live with less distance between who you are and how you live.
