 Content Creation
& Business Tools

Making PsychologyPop means writing, designing, filming, editing, and keeping a website running, often all in the same week. Every tool with a cluttered screen or too many steps takes energy I’d rather spend on the work itself, so over time I’ve settled on the ones that feel simple to use.

Everything here is something I use myself to create PsychologyPop, from design and video editing to music, my website, and the microphone I record with. If you’re building something of your own, take what fits your life and leave the rest.

CANVA

🎨

GET CREATIVE

I use Canva to make nearly every graphic for PsychologyPop, including my YouTube thumbnails, logos, and website images. Starting from a template means I’m not facing a blank page trying to decide where everything goes. It keeps my look consistent without design software that takes weeks to learn.

INSHOT

🎬

InShot is the app I use to edit my videos and shorts on my iPhone and iPad. I tried other editing apps and kept coming back to this one because it’s so intuitive. The tools are right where I expect them to be, so editing feels like part of creating instead of a chore.

Epidemic Sound is where I find music that fits the mood of each video. With my subscription, the music is cleared for creators, so I can use the same track across platforms without worrying about copyright claims. That’s one less thing for me to keep track of.

WIX

🌐

I’m comfortable with tech and can work my way through WordPress, but Wix is what I chose for PsychologyPop. It guides you through each step and doesn’t come with all the behind-the-scenes upkeep WordPress does. Paying for that ease is worth it to me because it lightens my cognitive load and leaves more energy for creating.

MICROPHONE

🎙️

My ZealSound mic sits on my desk and plugs right into my iPhone, so I can start recording without setting up a lot of equipment. It makes a real difference in how clearly my voice comes through, which means less time fixing sound in editing and an easier listen for you. I also keep a fuzzy cover on it to soften the pops and breathy sounds that come with speaking close to a mic.

OpusClip turns my long-form videos into shorts and reels I can post across different platforms. Finding the best moments and cutting them by hand takes a lot of watching and rewatching, and this does much of that work for me. I upload straight from my iPad, which keeps the whole process easy.

MY APPLE         ECOSYSTEM

I've come to realize just how much the technology I use affects how I feel throughout the day. There's something about my Apple devices—the quiet keys, the smooth feel of the trackpad, the and the way everything is intuitive and moves between my devices without extra steps, I’m not spending energy figuring things out.—that just feels good to me in ways PC and Android products never quite did. I love that I can move from one device to another without having to think too much about it. It's one of those everyday comforts that reduces my cognitive load, helps me stay regulated, and makes life feel a little easier.

iPad

📱

My iPad is where I edit videos after recording them on my iPhone. The bigger screen makes the detail work easier, and moving footage over from my phone is quick. It’s also how I upload my videos to OpusClip.

iPhone

📲

My iPhone is where most of my work happens. I jot down ideas for scripts, research, document what I find, and keep up with everything right in my hand. Once my tasks are organized, I manage them from here too.

iMac

🖥️

I hold all of my telehealth sessions on my iMac, and the stereo sound is a big reason why. Voices come through so clearly that it feels like the person is sitting right there in my office with me.

My MacBook Air is where I’ve done most of the work on my website and where I organize my tasks. It’s light and quiet, so I can settle in anywhere for a long editing session. Once everything is organized there, I pick it up on my iPhone and manage it from my hand.

I mostly wear my Apple Watch when I’m going somewhere I don’t want my phone in my hand, so my hands are free for whatever matters in the moment. It still gets me the notifications I need, whether I’m in a store or sitting in a meeting, and a tap on my wrist is much less jarring than a phone buzzing in my bag. I added a bling band that makes it fun to wear, and I love the sparkle.
