Losing People After Late Autism Diagnosis

About

After a late autism diagnosis, relationships can begin to feel different. You may have less tolerance for interactions you once pushed through, begin setting boundaries, or realize how much effort you were putting into keeping certain relationships going. 'Why Do I Lose People After Late Diagnosis?' explores why friendships, family relationships, and other connections often shift as you begin understanding yourself as an autistic adult. We’ll look at how autistic masking, over-accommodating, and years of ignoring your own needs may have shaped your relationships. We’ll also explore what can happen when you begin recognizing unhealthy patterns or mistreatment you once believed you had to tolerate. Some relationships adjust. Some become stronger. Others may become more difficult to maintain. You may experience losing people after late diagnosis, and that can bring both grief and relief. This Path isn’t about telling you who should stay or go. It’s about helping you understand why relationships can change after late diagnosis and what those changes may reveal about the way you’ve learned to connect.
